KCSD wins state-wide public relations awards

The Keokuk Community School District (KCSD) received six awards at the annual Iowa School Public Relations Association (ISPRA) Spring 2024 Conference on Thursday, April 11, in Des Moines.

With a score of a five out of five the district took home two of the top honors, a Blue & Gold Award, for Excellence in Writing for “‘He Sought Us Out’: Former Hawkeye, NFL Player Marvin McNutt Joins Chief Nation” and “KPD School Resource Officer Continues to Provide Emergency and Mediation Support to KCSD.”

KCSD also earned four Awards of Excellence, including two for sports and music photography, a long-form video for Homecoming 2023 and a special purpose project for the new Welcome Flyers.

About 20 school districts from across the state submitted projects for review including Burlington Community School District from Southeast Iowa, as well as the Iowa City Community School District, Ankeny Schools and many more. There were three levels of awards based on a point system from one to five with five being the top score for a Blue & Gold Award, then a step down to Award of Excellence and finally an Award of Merit.

Jessica M. Martin, the KCSD marketing specialist, participated in the conference and accepted the awards.
