Dear Parent/Guardian:

We are pleased to inform you that Keokuk Community School District will be implementing a new program available to schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).

What does this mean for you and your children attending the school(s) identified below?

GRADES K-8

Great news! All enrolled students of Keokuk Middle School, George Washington Elementary, and Hawthorne Elementary are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no charge to your household each day of the school year. Your child(ren) will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to pay a fee or submit a meal application. *

Families with students only in K-8 will not need to fill out a free/reduced lunch application, however, to receive a fee waiver, you will need to fill out a household income form and sign the waiver in PowerSchool registration forms.

GRADES PK, 9-12, KEOKUK CATHOLIC

Families with students PK, 9-12 or Keokuk Catholic School students will need to fill out the free/reduced lunch application and sign the waiver form.

We hope to be able to expand this program in the future to include all age groups, however, at this time we are only able to utilize CEP for K-8.

* The district will still be requesting Household Income Forms from households with a student participating in the CEP; however, receipt of free breakfast and lunch meals does not depend on returning it. Completing the traditional School Meal Program income application is still necessary for other families with children in Keokuk High School, Torrence Pre-K and Keokuk Catholic School and will be used to determine household eligibility for free/reduced meals and possible waiver or reduction of fees.
