Representative Kurtz Visits Keokuk Schools

Friday May 3 Representative Jeff Kurtz visited Keokuk Schools to see how the district is putting Governor’s STEM Advisory Council programs and funding to use. He discussed projects with students in the KHS Computer Science Principles course which was made possible through a Scale Up award. Kurtz also toured the newly renovated media center, courtesy of a STEM BEST® Partnership, where professionals will be working with students to improve soft skills and improve career awareness. The Governor’s STEM Advisory Council received an additional one million dollars in funding for 2019-2020. At George Washington Elementary he saw students engaging in a Mystery Science lesson funded by KCSD and Lego Robotics on loan from the Lee County Economic Development Group.
