With a little help from some anonymous, yet generous, tri-state area residents and organizations, the Keokuk Middle School Angel Tree project raised just over $2600 during the past month. To conclude the project, 50 students, representing all grade levels were selected by the staff to go to Wal-Mart on Friday, 12/18, to shop for 40 families, with a spending limit of $65.00 per family.
Salvation Army Major Mark Litherland, along with Linda Mullen from Wal-Mart coordinated the event. Grade levels competed against each other to see who could raise the most money. The 8th grade was the winner of this year’s contest, and will get the chance to play the KMS staff in volleyball on January 4.
