At 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, the Homecoming Parade will start at 4th and Main Street. The parade will proceed up Main to 17th Street, 17th Street to High, and up High Street to Wright Fieldhouse where the Pep Rally will be held. Included in the parade will be the Band, Colorguard, Little Feathers, class entries, attendants, queen and king candidates, cheerleaders, football teams, etc. Alumni groups are invited to participate and may call the Activities Office at the High School to make arrangements to do so. This year the Student Council has elected Mrs. Janice Lindner as the Grand Marshall.

The Pep rally will feature all Fall Sports’ participants and the crowning of the King and Queen. The winners of the class competitions held during the festival earlier in the day will be announced. There will also be a “Yell” contest, with the four classes competing to determine which class cheers the loudest.

Friday night the football opponent will be the Clear Creek Amana Clippers. The freshman game begins at 5:00 p.m. and the Varsity game will follow at approximately 7:30 p.m. Gates will open at 4:15. Halftime entertainment will be provided by KHS Marching Band, Colorguard and Little Feathers. The highlight of half time will be the presentation of the queen and her court. The Lee County Pork Producers will again be grilling pork sandwiches for the Homecoming game. We are pleased that the Pork Producers have agreed to be a part of Homecoming again this year and thank them for all they do. The sandwiches will be sold through the concession stand.

The Homecoming Dance will be held on Saturday, September 26th, at Keokuk High School 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. This dance is for KHS students and their registered dates. Cost is $5.00 per person.

All parade entries must align with the homecoming theme selected by the student council, “Back to the Future”. All parade entries must submit a completed entry form to participate in the parade (attached). All parade entries must be constructed safely. Those riding in or on floats and trucks must remain on or in them during the parade. Candy and other prizes are not to be thrown from vehicles or floats. Entries wishing to distribute candy are asked to distribute it at the curb using walkers to prevent children dashing into the street. All floats and other vehicles entered in the parade are to be driven by responsible licensed individuals who drive cautiously to, through and from the parade. Drivers are responsible for the well being of both their passengers and parade spectators. All entries will be given a map and asked to use this to line up at River City Mall no later than 5:30 pm. Entries arriving late may be excluded from the parade. School officials have the right to refuse any entry they deem inappropriate or unacceptable and to ask entries to leave the parade if safety guidelines are not followed.

***This year we have scheduled a rain date on Friday, September 25th in the unfortunate event of bad weather.  The parade will be shortened and begin at Rand Park at 3:30pm. The route will continue up 17th St. turning right onto Orleans Ave. and ending in front of the high school.  Any entries wishing to be in the parade on the rain date (in the event of bad weather on original date) will need to contact the activities office at Keokuk High School before noon on Friday, September 25th.
