The Lee County Reading Association held its annual Explore Reading Night at the Keokuk Middle School Media Center October 26. This event was expanded to include preschool through grade five KCSD students who enjoyed read alouds, crafts, snacks, and two free books of their own choice. Mrs. Edler’s sixth graders created a haunted house for those brave enough to enter. Parents were also provided book lists and tips for reading with children. Supplemental financial support was provided by the Keokuk Community School Foundation. Research shows that students with at least 20 books in the home perform better in school.
