On Saturday, January 11, 2013, over 700 students from Southeast Iowa arrived at Fairfield High School in hopes of being accepted to attend the SEIBA Honor Band Festival. Each year, the Southeast Iowa Bandmasters Association sponsors the auditions in Fairfield. This year, there were 24 audition centers, with approximately 400 students auditioning for two junior high bands and nearly 325 students auditioning for the high school concert band. Yiyang Liu on trombone, Wes Hunt on French Horn, Holly Noneman on French Horn, and Kyler Rippenkroeger on French Horn of Keokuk High School were selected to this years Concert Band. The SEIBA festival was this past weekend at Iowa City West High School.
Students selected to the concert band rehearsed with guest conductor Dr. Richard Fischer. Dr. Fischer is the conductor of the Wind Symphony and University Band at Concordia University in Chicago.
