11/9 COVID-19 Update

Keokuk CSD Families,

Today, Monday November 9th, the district applied for permission from the State of Iowa to temporarily return to 100% virtual learning.  The requirement for approval is that the 14 day positivity rate for the county hit 15-20% and the student absentee rate due to illness hit 10%.  Once the county rate hits 20%, the student absentee rate is no longer a factor.

While we have not hit the 10% absentee rate, our county positivity rate hit 18.8% today.  Due to this and the expectation that it will potentially go higher, we have asked for the waiver to return to virtual learning.

If the waiver is granted by tomorrow, we will move to the virtual platform beginning on this Wednesday, November 11th and will continue through Friday, November 20th.  We will plan to return to in-person learning following Thanksgiving break.

We know that this will potentially create issues for some of our families, but we plan to work together to make this difficult time as successful as possible for our students.

We will send out additional information as soon as we have more information to share.

Thank you for helping us keep our staff and students safe during this pandemic.
