Keokuk Water Plant Tour

Plant superintendent Jim Maddox took George Washington students on a tour of the Keokuk Municipal Waterworks to kick off an Engineering is Elementary unit on water filtration. Students will use what they learned to design, test, and improve water filters. The Next Generation Science Standards require engineering to be embedded in science instruction and for students to engage in hands-on problem solving. A Governor’s STEM Advisory Council Scale Up Grant will allow every George Washington student to participate in an EIE unit during the 2017-2018 school year.
