Green Out For CP Is Huge Success

Purple and white yielded as green became the new team color Friday night, at least for the fans in the stands. While the Central Lee football team came away the winner in the season opening football game, perhaps the biggest winner of the night was the overwhelming community support for the area residents, and their families, afflicted with Cerebral Palsy. Both Keokuk and Central Lee fans joined forces Friday night in support of Chief’s Sportin’ for A Cure Green Out, a fundraiser for Let’s Cure CP, a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding a cure for Cerebral Palsy, and the K-Play initiative that will help fund handicap playground equipment in our community. Individuals and their families in attendance were introduced at midfield and named as Honorary Captains for the Varsity game.

The Keokuk Hy-Vee lent their support to this worthwhile endeavor by selling over 1200 T-shirts to Chief and Hawk fans, and donated part of the sales to the fundraiser. The McGhghy and Payne families are to be congratulated in organizing this event to bring awareness to the Tristate area.
