History

Keokuk is located in the most southern point in Iowa, neighboring Illinois and Missouri,
in what is commonly referred to as the Tri-State Area. Keokuk was named after the
Sauk chief Keokuk, who is rumored to be buried in Rand Park located on a bluff
overlooking the Mississippi River. The Keokuk Community School District was formed in
March 8, 1851 and has maintained a celebrated presence in the Keokuk community.

District Information

Keokuk Community School District covers 47 square miles and serves more than 1,800
students pre-k through 12 across five attendance centers. The District employs close to
300 staff members and offers exceptional opportunities for students in activities,
athletics, and most importantly, growth and learning.

Mission

The Keokuk Community School District provides an educational foundation where
students are active participants in becoming adaptable and critical thinkers along with
achieving the skills necessary (academic/vocational) for lifetime success.
