Young Authors

Kindergarten students wrote and illustrated fiction ​stories​ and were proud to share their finished books with a real audience ​of​ p​eers​ and adults.​ They also wrote nonfiction pieces including a dedication and personal biography. Students entered the annual Lee County Writing Contest​ sponsored by the Lee County Chapter of the Iowa Reading Association.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

We read “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and then made our own caterpillars and enjoyed a yummy, healthy snack. This is Mrs. Hinton’s Kindergarten class. Mrs. Bruce’s class also participated, but they are not pictured.

A trip to the pumpkin patch!

We had a perfect day for a trip to the pumpkin patch! We got to feed the fish, talk about the corn and what kinds of products they make with the corn. They got to choose their own gourd and pumpkin to take home.
